I use this site regularly although I don´t have a bike. I drove this road recently in my Ferrari 360 and having done a lot of driving all over France I rated this road as one of the best drives I have had there. Fast open corners, some staights with good vis. and no traffic. Even my wife enjoyed it! Highly recommended!
Rode this road end of April13 with two mates ZZR14/ZX10R/VFR800Vtec heading back north on day 4 of a 7 day loop via Calais/Nice/Millau/Calais. This was by far the best long distance road we used. 60mls of continual sequences of awesome left, right, left, rights linked with numerous nail it straights!! Road surfaces very consistent be careful as there are a fair number of reducing blind bends that will catch you out and have vehicles cutting them!!! The locals own this road and love a bit of a joust too if you are looking for it!! We found a superb budget stop at a Banjac Hotel Paradis just like les Routiers used to be. Either Ride it or enjoy the views you cant do both. Its like Wales on steroids. Ride the Gorges Du Tarn (mini grand Canyon)heads down to Millau...its breathtaking.
Incontournable tronçon dans la région !!!A faire absolument ;-)
Best ride I have ever made
A truly fantastic road. Either choose to ride and take in scenery or test your skills - don try both! Cornering heaven, the zx12r kept running out of clearance on it in 2009 - great surface in parts giving great feedback and confidence. Rode it in 2006 and again in 2009. In 2009 many parts were being resurfaced. If you e going on a trip anywhere near this area, you really should include it in plans.
Just got back from France, stayed in Florac for 5 nights. Got to say this road is just awsome, is a good test for all abilities. Has everything you'll ever want on a road. Take the advice of an earlier contribution and take a break, most of all those just relax and enjoy.
Love it, this is as good as it gets. Watch out for the occasional lorry.
Done this road 3 times, prefer South to North. Fantastic uninterrupted stretch of twisties, forget the scenery and concentrate on one of the best stretches of tarmac anywhere. Watch out for the speed camera at the Ales end. Stop in the square by the cathedral in Mende to get your breath back and have lunch.
A truely great selection of corners guaranteed to satisfy any corner maniac's appetite, also some wonderful scenery which illustrates what riding in France is all about. Highly recommended despite the volume of tourist traffic at peak holiday periods.
