A great road when the weather is good. Great corners and the surface is good enough to allow decent progress.

A must-do road if youre in the north of Spain. Stunning landscapes through Desfiladero de los Beyos. The tarmac in the Puerto del Pontón (from Riaño to Oseja de Sajambre) is a bit broken, but from Oseja to Cangas is almost new.

Beware of tourists, specially on holidays, and snow and salt on winter.

The visibility does reduce very quickly in the Picos. The oil that comes out of the road when it rains makes things very slippery, go in the summer when it never rains! The mountains are stunning, although they are very cold in the winter when there is ice and snow about in the higher sections

I was having a whale of a time straightening the bends out till one of our group was pulled over for crossing (not overtaking) on a white line. The thing that got me was that the police car (travelling in the opposite direction) turned round on a very narrow road and came flying up with blue lights flashing to pull us over... They obviously take the white lines very seriously! Spot fine was 80euros in cash. Two other things to look out for. In the Picos when it rains it's like riding through fog - very slow progress especially at altitude. You do come across cows, pigs and donkeys in the carriageway - and what they leave on the road can be very slippy... Some of the bridges over the river can take you by surprise - road looks straight and then suddenly dives off to the left. Eeek! Bridges themselves can be narrow and slippy. But the route is absolutely spectacular. A feast!

Stunning route. If you want a break, turn right just after Osejade Sajambre and ride up to Soto de Sajambre for a really nice Bar.

Forst section is realy nice with beautiful scenery. Desfiladeros are a must with last section with not so good pavement, but corners are amazing. Road not wide and must take care with local traffic that might became distracted with scenery. Kiss your footpegs goodbye in Riaño and after relax in a cidreria in Cangas...
