Not the best surface, sometimes really narrow and time to time traffic can be problematic. But views and corners are perfect. If you are going to the towns, there is quite a lot of walking, while parking is mostly on half way down.
This is an amazing ride above the Cinque Terre (Five Villages) Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore, Portovenere, slow, hard work, but worth a go. Rode it on my Yamaha 660 Tenere, my BMW GS1100 and my (Ducati 888 though it was really hard work, hardly ever out of 2nd gear), takes ages, very narrow, never ending turns, hairpins and switchbacks, but there is some fantastic scenery. If you start out early enough take in a couple of the villages on the way. Come back on the (SS1 via Auralia) Passo Bracco, I do recommend it but remember it is a slow cruise.
