One of my fave roads on a bike or in a car. Just be on the lookout for deer between Burford and Bibury. I too, have never seen police in the 20 years I've lived here!
A fabulous stretch of road and great stops / pubs in all the villages you pass thru.
Lovely, wide quick 15 mile stretch of road. Depart Burford on A40 W and take left turning less than a mile out signposted Bibury and off you go. Very wide road for a B classification with big potential for use of speed if you want. Lots of wide bends with good vis that are fun when taken at speed. A few hidden road junctions but nothing too bad - width makes this road a lot safer than perhaps you would think. Great road surface. Fast to Bibury (half way) and through this idyllic village over bridge and past bikers eating ice cream or having a pint outside. Bibury is always full of parked cars and pedestrians walking in the road so beware. Out of Bibury and then a few miles to Barnsley via a twisty section with less overtaking opportunities. Through Barnsley and you return to wider, open road with bends that can be taken at speed before long straight to the crossroads with A429 a mile before Cirencester. Never seen any Police; never seen any accidents. Great road that I have ridden hundreds of times from 6am right through to 9pm. Watch out for wildlife and flooding! No speed cameras either.
